Salads Can Be Exciting, too!

I love preparing my foods at home. It is very much a therapeutic art form for me.

I always know when my body craves food from Mother Nature. And when it does, what do I eat? Fruits and vegetables, along with some protein!

There are so many options to eat out there when it comes to salads. But my favorite is when I am preparing it myself. Salads are not just about iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, sprinkled cheese flakes, and croutons. On top of that, the dressings usually are too rich and creamy with loads of hidden sugars and calories. Instead of the store bought bottled dressings, why not sprinkle some Himalayan sea salt, a little black pepper, and some olive oil and lemon on top of your salads? If you want a little sweetness, just add some honey instead of sugar or simply add some sweet fruits such as watermelon, mangoes, blueberries, or peaches directly on top of your salad.

I love everything and anything fresh and natural.  At the moment, I do not have many options to grow my own fruits and vegetables like I did a few years back.  So I make it a weekly ritual to visit the farmers market and Whole Foods to get my fruits and greens. When I can – which is most of the time – I prefer to cook at home rather than eating out. This way, I am in control of what ingredients go into my meals. Besides, cooking is a therapeutic art form for me, and I very much enjoy it. It is like creating a masterpiece on a plate: rich in chakras, happy colors, and with plenty of variety.

As you know, I consider what I put on my plate to be a reflection of how I live my life and how much I respect my body.  I make sure to give it a lot of loving foods, foods that heal, foods that awaken, and foods that infuse my body with so much life.

When your food looks good, it will taste good.  Who would not want to enjoy a meal that way? More to come on this.

Eat Like A Goddess and Stay Healthy!

Fresh everything from the farmers market makes it more pleasurable.

Summer season is the perfect time to get healthy, and what better way to do so than with the abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables and baked goods from your local farmer’s market?  I have pulled together some of my favorite healthy recipes to share with you that are nourishing and takes no time to prepare at all. This is how I keep my body energized and skin youthful. Since I am such a visual person, the way I present my food is just as important as the ingredients I use. How about you? Have you been preparing your own foods this summer? Share your photos. I would love to see them!

Goddess Diet for Youthful Looking Skin

Do you want to know the secret to maintaining youthful and healthy looking skin and keeping your inner Goddess or Titan energized? To continue my health and wellness journey, and in keeping my heart chakra balanced, I am having fruits and vegetables at every single meal and drinking lots of herbal teas and water as part of my daily diet.  In addition to that, I don’t even crave sweets, coffee, carbs, or wine at all.

I have been on this wellness diet since December 27th, and I can tell you, not only does it make a difference in the way I feel, but also in how my skin looks and feels: amazing. Make-up is now a plus (if I feel like it), but not a must…well, at least for the past 3 weeks 🙂 See my bare face in the photo below.

I am blessed to be in Mexico right now and missing Jonas back at home in the Washington, DC area. But even while on this Goddess Holiday and Design Inspiration Retreat, I have been hiking at least five miles a day as well as doing yoga and lifting weights. My breakfast is mostly plain yogurt, honey, chia seeds, and mixed fruits, and lunch and dinner are usually salads or fish tacos made from the freshest ingredients.

I took the photos below to share with you for inspiration in case you want to eat out less and start preparing your foods at home. Make sure to keep your food colorful and made with natural ingredients.  Oh, and did I tell you I also lost 6 pounds from it too? 🙂
