My Old Soul and Its Quest for Love

When your heart is open and balanced, your plants can feel it, too!

I am really not bothered by my high expectations in others, especially in my future forever “til death do us part” partner in crime and lover. You have to be a very self-aware and secure man in your own confident Titan skin to handle a modern day goddess like moi.  Since my divorce four years ago, I have been in a love affair with myself and having a lot of fun enjoying my own company and exploring a life full of freedom and creative self-expression.I have been told that I am too “picky,” and that my expectations are too high. But the truth is, I am an old soul and I have a big mission to accomplish in this lifetime that I cannot afford to lose time over distractions that do not serve my purpose. For years, my love life has been 2nd priority to my work of bringing beauty, sensuality and light to others.  Don’t get me wrong: if miraculously, I happen to stumble upon a handsome, gallant and honest titan who shares the same values, dreams and life’s aspirations as me, I will ultimately follow the guidance of my heart. But until then, if it takes forever, I will wait for that perfect true SOUL LOVE instead of settling for someone that is just “Good enough”.I have been wanting to write a post about old souls and true love for a very long time, but this article below was perfectly written for me and for many old souls out there who may be somewhat confused or thinking that something is wrong with them. I want to share this with you that a dear goddess friend sent me a few weeks ago. After reading it, I felt like Brianna Wiest, the author, was thinking of me when she wrote this. I will elaborate on this article with more detailed explanation later, but in the meantime, what do you think?

12 Reasons Why Old Souls Have Such A Hard Time Finding Love

1. They have a strong sense of identity. They know who they are, which means they also know – specifically – what they do and do not want in a partner, what works and what doesn’t. While this is fantastic in terms of being able to choose wisely, it ultimately diminishes their pool of prospects pretty significantly.

2. Left unchecked, their hyper-intuitiveness can wreck relationships. Often prone to overthinking because of how deeply sensitive they are, their capacity to worry and make assumptions can break relationships that don’t have a perfectly strong foundation.

3. Many are in the throes of twin flame relationshipsThey’re attached or are with people who are not their “forever” people, rather, intense connections they’re meant to learn, and rapidly expand, from.

4. They often have a greater purpose that must be attended to first – one that love would distract them from. They usually have to accomplish quite a bit on their own before they find love – this is because old souls love deeply, and completely. To be given love too soon would keep them from the other important things they are here to do.

5. They will not settle for anything less than soulmate love. They require a lot more than just a surface-level, “average” relationship. They absolutely will not settle, and sometimes, that means biting the bullet and being alone for longer than what’s “average” as well.

6. While many people can bring them passion, few can bring compatibility. Because they feel so deeply and others find them so fascinating, it’s easy for them to find infatuation, but to be with someone who is truly their best friend, deepest confidant *and* lover is a challenge.

7. They’re less inclined to go out and meet people in modern ways. Even if they have nothing against online dating, it doesn’t always come naturally for them, nor does finding a random hookup at a bar or being set up blindly seem appealing.

8. They’re natural healers, and often attract people who need help, not love. And that attraction is reciprocated. There’s almost nothing that feels better to an old soul than being able to help someone who truly needs it. However, at some point in time, it’s crucial for them to realize that they have to choose a partner, not a student, or a charity case.

9. They dislike the “game.” Dating is inherently exhausting to an older-spirited person. Feigning disinterest for the sake of looking “cool” or knowing which faux pas other people find off-putting (how long after the first date do you text again?) isn’t instinctive to them, and can stress them out more than they ever find it “fun.”

10. Their standards are sky-high. They expect a lot from themselves, so likewise, they expect a lot from their partners. While this is a great thing, it’s another quality that has to be kept in check: it’s more important to be able to accept the qualities that aren’t deal-breakers than it is to just write a person off because they’re imperfect.

When I am alone is when my dreams are manifesting.

11. They have baggage.People who developed their inner selves quickly did so for a reason: they had to cope, they had to grow, or they had to learn from some challenging experiences that life set up for them. While this is a great thing on its own, unresolved issues can often re-manifest in close relationships.

12. They feel fear as intensely as they feel love. The degree to which they love something is proportionate to how much they fear losing it, or not being “good enough” for it. They don’t just love intensely, they feel everything else intensely, too, and sometimes, that gets in the way of the really good things in front of them.

Longest Living Sleeping Chihuahua

Nini sleeping in the car during rush hour traffic to work with me.

While Megabyte (what a name!) might be the longest-living Chihuahua officially on record, I think my beloved Nini could definitely beat that record.  Nini is my spiritual animal, and the longest, most loyal, dedicated relationship I have had in my life, second to the one with my parents.  I attribute her longevity not just to the usual things – lots of love and high-quality, clean food, not to mention that I cook real delicious human food for her as well – but also to her surroundings and lifestyle.  What are her secrets for such longevity?  Below are just a few.

  1. Comfort Luxury: If she is not sleeping with me in my comfortable bed, then she is sleeping somewhere in her own little chihuahua luxury. This is important for napping and resting (of which she does daily and almost too much), and also for her joints.  She loves nothing more than circling around and curling up in her beds, and she is just the cutest ever!
  2. Beautiful Surroundings: Just like her goddess mistress, she likes her place of rest to be clean, simple, zen, and free from clutter with pretty plants and flowers. That is why she is so calm and never stressed or anxious like other dogs I have been around.
  3. Classical Music: I love all kinds of music, but what I listen to most often at work and at home in the background is classical or beautiful New Age and World Jazz playing in the background.  And if Nini is around me, she always gets the pleasure of that, too. It keeps me calm and at peace.
  4. Aromatherapy for a sense of zen: I am a lover of all things natural and created by God and Mother Nature. I try my best to live as clean and free from chemicals and dirty polluted air as possible. I am also very sensitive to unpleasant smells. So I love using essential oils to keep my work and home smelling luxurious and heavenly while healing and giving balance to my chakras, as well as harmonizing and promoting good health for my body, mind, and spirit.  Nini is blessed to be experiencing this along with me.
  5. Children Love: You already know I love children because they are such beautiful and pure little angelic souls, and they are so uplifting to be around. Besides, children keep us young and on our toes. Nini loves affection and is surrounded by adorable sweet children daily when I take her for her walks. The little children in the park always run up and ask me if they can hold her, touch her, pet her, give her kisses and rub her soft and voluptuous body. It is as though she gets free massages daily and it is not always from me. 🙂
  6. Goddess Pet Bath Luxuries: Lastly, once a week, I give Nini a relaxing and soul awakening bath with my body luxury products made from natural flowers, herbs, and oils which are good for both humans and animals alike!

I believe any of these are things that you, too, can do to live a long and zen life.  Why not take some time out for a luxurious bath and some aromatherapy one evening?  Nini would join you if she could. 🙂

When it is cold out, Nini refuses to walk. I often have to carry her 🙂

Journal Writing is My Medicine

img_3533

I apologize if my recent post seemed dark, moody, and somewhat emotional. I am in a much better place now. So with the Full Moon in September finishing up, I want to open you up to another powerful way to connect with your higher self: journal writing. It is a holistic approach to traditional therapy, and it really helps you to practice your communication skills, open up your Throat Chakra, and manage depression. Well, at least for me, it does!  When you are able to put your thoughts and desires into words, a lot of miracles and magic will start to manifest in your life.  Journal writing is an incredible holistic way to help you through sadness, guide you through life, and also help manifest your thoughts and desires into reality while being a very meditative and healing activity.

I believe that my very first journal was at age 6 in Vietnam, but of course through all the moving from one place to the next and hiding from the Communists, my journals got lost along the way. So I started again at age 11 here in the United States, but again, because of all the moves, once again, I lost all those journals. Now in my forties and in a much more grounded space in life, I love writing in my journals daily.  It is my way of connecting with my higher self, with God, with the angels, and with the universal energy. It is also my therapy to alleviate any anxiety or depression in my life, which I once a month go through for a few days.  For me, aromatherapy, nature walks with my Nini Love, spending time with my adorable darling nieces,  and writing in my journal are the best forms of medicine. This is why I am rarely under the weather.

As you will see below there is no end to what you can journal about to feel more in tune with your higher self. Not sure where to start or what to write? There is no right or wrong: simply take a few minutes daily with a nice pen and write anything that comes to mind. Don’t over think it. Just start from the bottom of your heart and get in tune with how you feel and then the words will write themselves onto your journal. Why not begin with gratitude? List the things you are grateful for in your life and the rest will flow with ease!  This is also a way for you to get to know yourself and bring you closer to your heart’s desires and manifest your dreams.

We always keep a full stock of inspiring journals in my our goddess sanctuary and lifestyle boutique – see some of my favorites below. And please keep the sharing emails coming. I really appreciate all of that.

This is a fun journal full of prompts for both writing and drawing to express yourself! I just opened it up at random to the most beautiful quote that encapsulates my idea of journaling to connect with the universe, “the secret of all is to write in the gush, the throb, the flood, of the moment- to put things down without deliberation- without worrying about their style- without waiting for a fit time or place.” -Walt Whitman
