11 Reasons Why Flowers Are My Best Friends

My beautiful peonies in full blooms.

Ever heard of that song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend?” My mother grew up appreciating the value of diamonds and expensive jewels; she was even in the business of dealing diamonds at one point. When I was 26 years of age, I took the Greyhound bus to NYC with over $100k worth of diamonds in my brassiere to deliver it to a client for my mother.  Was I afraid and nervous at the time? Not really, because my mother was so positive and acted as if it was just a simple little errand.

Why do I tell you this story? It explains why my sisters and I grew up trained that if a Titan really loved and adored you and wanted to marry you, he would propose with an expensive diamond ring. In the Vietnamese and most Asian cultures, a Titan’s love for you is judged by how much your engagement ring is worth. My brother in-laws are not Vietnamese, but they did well by consulting with my mother about diamonds before proposing to my sisters. (smiles…wink…)

I remember being engaged to my first love and found out that my engagement ring was over $15k. I was so nervous wearing it that I gave it to him to keep for me in a safe place. He had just graduated from college and had only been working for a few years. I felt bad about it at the time because I think he used all his savings to show me he loved me and that I was worth it. Long story short, I was not ready to get married. So I parted ways with him and gave back the ring. In reality, I am quite a simple and carefree person. I do not care much for all those expensive things. I care more about quality, pleasurable, meaningful and enriching life experiences. Most often, it is the simple little things in life that make me happy.

When I stop to think about it, besides books, music, art, children, good food, aromatherapy, and animals, flowers are really my best friends. Below are 11 reasons why I love them so, other than just good Feng Shui. I hope you like my photos, too!

10. They make me feel deeply enlightened and at peace with myself and those around me.

11. Lastly, but most importantly, they remind me that I can be powerful without losing my feminine appearance and aura.

So all it takes for a Titan or anyone to please me and brighten my day are just hugs, kisses, words of affection, and…surprise…ing me with flowers!  How simple and effortless is that? 🙂
