Can You Stay Healthy While Traveling?

A delightful cup of cappuccino

A delightful cup of cappuccino first thing before breakfast and after my morning meditation.

I used to think that when I travel, I can’t eat healthy.  That is not the case any longer.  This week, I am on a little work and play holiday in the Mediterranean and I have to say, it is so worth the long distance travel.  The weather is gorgeous and AMAZING!  But just because I am on holiday does not mean that I won’t be keeping up my healthy habits!  After all, if you eat well, you will have energy to play and have fun all day long or work much more productively.

For me, the key to a wonderful day spent exploring, shopping, and relaxing on the beach in a foreign place is a big and healthy breakfast.   Although breakfast is buffet style here with several delicious varieties tastefully displayed, I still stay focused on creating a similar meal to what I would fix for myself at home.  That normally includes eggs and vegetables with fruits or plain yogurt with few carbs or none at all.   It’s really all about balance and putting foods in your body that help prolong your life, not destroy it.  And just because it is a buffet is no reason to stuff yourself with junk!

What is your favorite way to fuel up in the morning during your travels or while at home?  Share please!

  1. Good for you! I wish I was able to stick to my diet on vacation but I struggle with that constantly. I was in Mexico a few months ago to an all inclusive resort with all food/alcohol included so it was pretty much impossible to stick to any kind of diet and I ate pretty much anything and everything I wanted and the free booze a lot of empty calories… Needless to say I was regretting it the second I got back home lol. I’m going on a trip next week so hopefully I’ll do better with that…

    • I used to be able to really eat whatever I wanted, but now that I am a bit older and my metabolism is not like it used to, so I really try hard to resist all the great food that may look and taste good, but won’t do my body justice. But I do have my days where I splurge and let go,too.
      Thanks for sharing! 🙂
